Chesterfield's Queen's Park has won a Green Flag Award award - the national standard for quality parks and green spaces - for a third successive year after its highly-praised £4m refurbishment.

Cllr Keith Morgan, Chesterfield Borough Council's Lead Member for Healthy Communities and Leisure, said: "The park is increasingly becoming the focal point of community events as well as staging high-profile attractions like first class cricket and the Market Festival's fantastic Garden of Light."

Janet Murphy, Chair of the Friends of Queen's Park, said: "We share the Council's delight to have retained this prestigious award which recognises the fact that the park is welcoming and well maintained with the support and involvement of the local community."
