AN "exceptionally proud" head of sixth form has praised the exam achievements of her school leavers.
Charlotte Evans said she was delighted with Tupton Hall's set of results, which beat the national average with a pass rate of 98.8 per cent.
She said: "I feel exceptionally proud of our students' achievement. We have improved on last year's pass r
ate and we are especially pleased with the percentage of grades that were either A or B, which increased to over 50 per cent."
Eight students achieved three or more A grades. These included aspiring physicists Emily Collins, who secured a place at Oxford, and Leon Pickard who is off to Warwick University.
Medical school beckons for three Tupton school leavers – Ashley Cheung, Kate Skinner and Alex Ward.
Miss Evans said 80 per cent of year 13s had successfully applied to university with the rest taking up jobs.
She added: "We feel very proud of every student who has completed their studies and feel that they are all fully equipped with the skills necessary to take the next steps into successful careers."
