The success of A-level students at a Derbyshire Dales school has been praised by the headteacher.

Highfields School, in Matlock, achieved a 99 per cent pass rate with almost half leaving with As and Bs.

Headteacher Dr Ramsey Tetlow said: "We feel the results reflect the hard work put in by the students."

Two Highfields pupils earned As in five subjects while 11 students achieved three top grades.

Dr Tetlow added that the majority of students had achieved the grades they needed for university, including three with Oxbridge offers.
