There were fists-full of A grades for pupils taking A levels at a Bakewell secondary school.

Four Lady Manners School pupils – Elliot Banks, Nicholas Bennett, Joseph Griffiths and Amy Nicholson – picked up five top grades each.
And five of their classmates – Harry Davis, Miriam Everitt, Paul Griffiths, Katherine Isherwood and Rachel Trend – achieved four straight As.

Headteacher Duncan Meikle said: "There is no doubt that the results are well deserved. Congratulations to students and staff who have had to work very hard to achieve such successes".

Almost half of the A-Level passes achieved by the school's 162 year 13 students were graded A and B.

Mr Meikle added: "Lots of students are now in a strong position to be able to move on to their next stage."
