FANS are to be given the chance to show their support for the Armed Forces when the Blues play their next game at Saltergate.
For the Spireites will throw their weight behind the Help for Heroes charity when Port Vale are in town on Saturday, March 13.

The group - which helps rehabilitate members of the British Armed Forces injured in the line of duty - has been named as the Football League's official charity partner for the 2009/10 season and Chesterfield FC is keen to play its part.

Local members of the Armed Forces are being invited to attend the game in uniform and can collect a free ticket in advance by showing their ID at the Blues ticket office.

Supporters at the game will be able to make their own donations as there will be a bucket collection at the game.

In addition, the players will sign a special Football League Help For Heroes which will be auctioned to raise money for the charity.

The Football For Heroes week, which kicks off on Saturday, will enable everyone involved in the Football League to show their support for the Armed Forces.

Meanwhile, John Sheridan has lost a number of first-team players ahead of this weekend's clash at Cheltenham.

Defender TJ Moncur, who was signed on a non-contract basis, went late last week while the Blues chief will be without the options offered by Frankie Artus and Dominic Green at Whaddon Road on Saturday.

Bristol City loanee Artus has returned to the South West after his loan spell ended last weekend following the 1-0 home defeat against Aldershot.

The midfielder joined Chesterfield in January and made three appearances.

He was sent off at Morecambe in his third appearance and was unable to retain his place as the team went on its six-match unbeaten run.

Midfielder Green has been recalled from his loan spell by Peterborough United.

The former Dagenham and Redbridge youngster scored twice in ten appearances for the Spireites.

True Blue Travel leaves Cross Street at 10am and the cost of a seat is £17. At Cheltenham, it is all pay-on-the-day for Chesterfield supporters.

Chesterfield were hoping to equal a 43-year-old high when they faced Aldershot and were looking to extend their winning sequence to a magnificent seven games.

That feat was last achieves in 1967 but it proved a bridge too far for Sheridan's men who were beaten by a second half goal from Danny Hylton.
The performance displeased the Blues boss.

''We did not get going in the first half and looked flat and didn't take enough care of the ball. We had a go at them in the second half but the way we conceded the goal was disappointing as it came from our corner.

''I said at half time, if we don't win the game, then make sure we don't lose it, but we switched off and the goal cost us,'' said Sheridan.

Chesterfield are on the road again on Tuesday when they travel down the M1 to meet promotion rival Notts County.

The Meadow Lane outfit, which has kept itself in the play-off frame despite a turbulent season off the pitch, was beaten 2-1 at Saltergate in August, and the Blues will be keen to complete the double.

The game is all pay-on-the-night for Chesterfield supporters.

Tickets for the final league game at Saltergate are set to go on sale today to season ticket holders who wish to take up their option of an additional ticket. Season ticket holders should take their season ticket books with them for the purchase.
