KNEELER: Staff at Foxwood School have presented a needlework kneeler to All Saints Church, Ashover, in memory of their former teacher and priest, the Rev Lawrence Smith, who died earlier this year at the age of 85.
Lawrence was formerly a member of the Ashover ministry team.
The kneeler was dedicated by the Rev Peter Boyden during Sunday morning's service. "Lawrence's ministry and friendship were valued very highly by people in this parish," he said.

APPEAL: Sales of raffle tickets by members of All Saints Church have boosted the 'Save our Spire' appeal by £1500.
Half of that sum was raised at last week's Ashover Show by a team of church members who were this week praised for their 'excellent efforts' by churchwarden Mark Hillard.
The top prize of a 'Dambusters Run' helicopter ride over the Derwent Dams, donated by Pennine Helicopters, was won by a Wolverhampton ticket-holder.
The second prize of a beautiful quilt sewn by members of the WI was won by a ticket-holder in the village as was the third prize of a falconry lesson courtesy of James McKay.
It's the second time that the quilt has been used to raise cash for the church. It was originally a prize in a 1980 raffle to raise funds for a new church roof.
Mark has thanked all supporters of the raffle and those who donated the prizes. "We had an excellent response," he said.
