MEMORIES of schoolboy football from more than 40 years ago are rekindled with this picture.
It is of the Gilbert Heathcote School team at Whittington Moor during the 1957-58 season.

The team, which was undefeated during the season and did not concede a single goal, won both the league and cup.

The picture has been sent in by Brian Pearson, who was a member of the team.

Pictured are: back row (left to right): Mr Pollard, Mr Mackeral (headteacher) and Mr Gaunt.

Second row: Chris Barrat, Alan Shepherd, Jeff Walker, John Shelton, Roy Fletcher, Brian Pearson and John Walker.

Third row: Roger Crosby, Michael Mosley, Michael James, Alan Holmes and David (Sammy) Bonson.

Front: Ian (Spud) Taylor.

Mr Pearson says that one teacher missing from the photo, was Mr Watkinson. "He was always a very keen supporter of the team," he adds.
