Looking back on 75 years of Scouting in Calow

SIR — All ex-members of 1st Calow (St. Peter's) Scout Group, ex-Leaders, friends and supporters of the group, the local community and anyone interested in Scouting or local history is invited to attend our 75th anniversary exhibition which will take place at St. Peter's Church Hall, Calow on Saturday, October 4 (10am-7pm) and Sunday, October 5 (10 am-4pm).
The exhibition will include; memorabilia, photographs, archive material, Derbyshire Times news clippings and audio visual presentations from throughout the group's 75 year history plus the opportunity for ex-members to record their own anecdotes and memories for future generations of Calow Scouts to enjoy.
Refreshments will be available throughout the exhibition and admission is free.
The exhibition is followed by a service of thanksgiving at St. Peter's Church, Top Road, Calow to which everyone is welcome. The service begins at 6pm, and will include the blessing of three new flags and the opportunity for current and ex-members of the worldwide Scouting movement to remake their promise.
The group is grateful to all those who have donated or loaned items for display some of which date back to the very earliest period of our history. We are also grateful to Father Michael and all at St. Peter's Church for their continual support of the group and wish to thank Derbyshire Times for their help in publicising the event.
