More footballing memories from north Derbyshire's past are recaptured by another of our readers.
Mr Bob Flaxman, of Hasland, has sent in this photograph of Spital Olympic— who were the Chesterfield and District League Division Two champions in 1933.

Mr Flaxman, whose dad Arthur played centre forward in the team, tells us that the Spital won their last game of that season 6-1 against Brimington Welfare.

His uncle Douglas was manager of the club in the late 1920s.

Mr Flaxman has sent in some of the names of the players, but hopes that Derbyshire Times readers may be able to fill in some of the missing names.

He lists them as:

Back row: Sam Diamond, — —, Wilf Cook, — —, — —, — —, — —, — —, Sam Hazeldene , Bernard Davison, — —.

Front row: Wilf Davison, — —, — —, Arthur Flaxman, Alf Hooper, — —.
The youngster sitting on the ball is Sam Diamond's son Cliff.

If you can supply any of the missing names Mr Flaxman can be contacted on (01246) 232572.

More sporting pictures from Spital's past are to be featured in a book that the local Historical Society is to publish next month.
