SIR — On one of my infrequent visits to Derbyshire for business I picked up the Derbyshire Times (August 28 edition) only to find when I opened it that evening that there was picture of me in the Mailbox section.
I am the un-named footballer on the extreme left of the back row and well remember the game at Norton Woodseats ground as that team had provided several players and where notably Cec Coldwell played before playing for Sheffield United (who I still su
pport every home match).
I made telephone contact with Mr Greenfield that weekend and said that I would write to you so that if any of the other people in the team read this they might remember as fondly as I do the sterling work put in by Jack Coleman to gather the team together and coach them.
I would be particularly interested to know what happened to the only other player from Tupton Junior School, who I think was Jimmy Roberts rather than John Roberts. I can remember that we called him "Jabber" and he had a reputation for doing a very good impression of Tommy Steele "Singing the Blues".
For those of the team who went onto Tupton Hall there is a re-union on October 18 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of when we all moved up to the "big school". I would be pleased to let anyone have details of this if they wish.
