SIR — With the May Day celebrations looming, I have sent in this picture taken in 1933 of the maypole dance at New Bolsover Model Village Infants School.
I was Mary Holmes then and am seventh from the right. Now 84-years of age, I still remember the day.

Names that I can recall are (left to right): Eric White, Cliff Barker, Iris Roe, Edith Senior, — —, Jim Shannon, Eric Pollard, George Blakley, — —, Mavis Brown, page boys, — Fisher (Queen), Iris Pool, — —, Jack Shaw, — —, Ena Wagstaff, Mary Holmes, — —, — —, — —, — —, — —, — —.

It was nice to see some of the dads there and, of course, hats were very important.

MRS M. SIDDALL,
90 Welbeck Street,
Creswell.
